Weymouth Dance Festival 2008
PRESS RELEASE
ANNUAL DANCE FESTIVAL HELD AT WEYMOUTH COLLEGE
Dance schools from all around Dorset and as far as Middlesex took part in the 4th Annual Weymouth Dance Festival designed for pupils to express a wide range of dance styles.
The Weymouth Dance Festival, which took place at Weymouth College from Saturday 3rd May to Monday 5th May, featured many different styles of dance pieces comprising of contemporary dance, ballet, and tap, national, street and even song and dance. The event involved over 200 pupils from a variety of Dance groups and schools, including Weymouth Dance Studio, Julie Adams Stage School, Blackwell Dance Academy, Prompt Corner Academy of Dance, Stanmore College, Mercury Dance Academy, Lets Dance, Crystals Cheerleaders and Quay Theatre Arts.
There were three days and nights of performances, which included a vast age range of dancers. What was so pleasing to see, even though a competition was the camaraderie between all the schools because of their love of dance.
Adjudicating the festival was Miss Tanya Allen LRAD, ARAD, FISTD, PGC (A), who runs a large school with over 600 pupils and six branches. “The Weymouth Dance Festival’’ is now a recognised, important and beneficial event that is fast becoming the regional platform to showcase an exciting and varied amount of dance work from the many dedicated and talented pupils throughout the area. This event requires a huge amount of help, hard work and organisation so a massive thank you goes out to Ms June Hornby of Weymouth Dance studio and her committee.
